I've just returned from a four-day meditation retreat. Getting quiet and going within brought me back to my spirit. The truth of who I am. We are not our careers, our paychecks, even our relationships. All of these are vital to our lives and well being, but they don't source us in well being. They add to, or subtract from, our joy, but they aren't the creators of our fulfillment. This source is our True Self. Meditation connects you intimately with your authenticity, with what your heart really wants, with what it will take to free you. Every time you a layer of what isn't you, melts away. You become closer to what is you. Meditation frees you to be who you really are. It frees you to grow and make choices that fit your True Self.
Meditation is like filling up your empty gas tank. It hooks you up to the inspired pipeline of your soul. You’ve filled up again. With your breath, hook up to your spirit, your source of all life and inspiration. Your breath is your bridge to calm and peace, even bliss. Remember, we can’t solve the problem at the level of the problem. Breathing gives you space and a new perspective. It takes you into a new, higher altitude. It’s like climbing to the top of a mountain and looking down on a 360 degree scenic view of your situation. You see it all; you have a new perception of what’s in front of you. From here, a new solution emerges. If you stay with your meditation practice (guided meditation counts too), you will begin to see a new YOU emerge.
I'll be leading a meditation class tomorrow evening, Friday, Jan. 6th: Deep Relaxation and Guided Meditation. Group meditation magnifies every person's intentions. The results are more powerful than doing it alone. Guided meditation is also excellent training wheels for individual sitting meditation (if you've tried that and not stuck with it.) I hope to see you there!
