I did a freeing forgiveness process this morning before I got out of bed. When I wake in the morning, before putting my feet on the floor, I check in with my heart. I notice how I’m feeling. I know that how my heart feels when I start my day will have a powerful influence on how my day goes.
I often have powerful dreams and sometimes they throw me off or put me in a fog. When this happens, I want to make a conscious shift – I need to bridge the gap between what I’m feeling on awaking, and how I want to feel this day.
It is my intention to consciously create each day with a joyful heart, feeling in charge of my life and on purpose. I want to enjoy every breath of my day, no matter what is going on around me.
And so this morning, to bridge the gap between my waking dream state, a dream that took me on a wild ride through a home that must have had 20 rooms (!), I began to breathe into my heart. I scanned my inner world to see if there is anyone I am holding pain about … anyone I need to forgive.
The answer was, “yes … forgive yourself.” “Forgive yourself for losing your temper sometimes with your beautiful daughters. You always did the best you could. Let go of perfection. No one can parent their children perfectly. We’re here to learn and grow. You’ve grown immensely through your mis-takes with your children.”
And so I did, and I felt better and lighter immediately.
What are you holding against yourself? Your past is here to help you grow, not keep you captive and apart from living in full joy, peace and ease. One of my clients once wisely said to me, “I realize I’m the one who has been holding the key to my own prison. It’s time to let myself out.”
Once you get the lesson behind your mis-take, you are free to let it go. It has served its purpose … to help you bloom even more into who you came here to be.
