Comfort for the Soul Message of the Day
You are extraordinary! You may not be feeling it right now, I understand. Other things might be in the way, like stress, worry, blame, shame or guilt. Still, the truth is, no one else here who can do and be what you came here to do and be.
The wise part of you knows this. When we're depressed or angry (or just asleep to our gifts), it feels as though many people could take our place -- that in the larger scheme of things, our unique journey doesn't matter all that much. By contrast, when we're feeling excited, alive and on purpose, we know the truth ... that we came here to accomplish something, even if we're not sure what it is.
If you're not feeling the spark of your purpose and passion, you are not alone. If you believe that it's selfish or arrogant to see yourself as extraordinary, you're not alone. Real changes are happening in our country and our world, however. These are changes that are big and tumultuous enough to cause us to shift our thinking. We are all being affected, and all being nudged, if not catapulted, into looking at our lives through a different lens. We have no choice if we want to continue to thrive. It's time to see ourselves in a new, fresh way.
All positive change begins with our beliefs and our identity. We can only have and be what is within our identity to create. For example, a child who sees their self as lovable will be more likely to have positive, loving friendships. People who see themselves as intelligent and tenacious tend to take on more challenges that will propel them forward. And the good news is, even if you don't believe you are extraordinary, you can change your beliefs!
Affirming, with heart and intention, how you want to see yourself, can change your brain. Seriously. This is not just "positive thinking," numerous studies confirm our ability to change the brain and create new neural pathways to "reprogram" our beliefs. But it takes a decision. A commitment on your part to change how you see yourself. If you're having trouble, go back to when you were an infant. See your innocence. See through this baby's eyes ... the wonder and magic of the world. As my beloved teacher Denise Linn says, "If you could only see yourself as Spirit sees you, you would be amazed at your magnificence."
I invite you to take a stand for your own well being and greatness. Stands are powerful, because they change our identity. Seeing ourselves in new ways, we begin to act differently, and get more positive results.
So why not now? I invite you to affirm, with all the gusto and heart you can muster: "I am _______________ (say your name), and I am an extraordinary woman!" or "I am ____________ (your name), and I am an extraordinary man!" Say it in the mirror 3 times and smile big at yourself. For extra credit, use a colorful feather or homemade magic wand to get your body involved ... for greater embodi-ment of your stand. Have fun with it. Some days you'll feel it more than others. This is the way it works. Stay with it.
Know that you've just done a great thing ... for you and the planet.
This is a practice that will change your life. It will help you re-wire your brain. Do it daily for one month, with heart, and you will see life-changing results.
